Most parents contact our clinic in the first two to eight weeks after the birth of their child. They are often referred by midwifes, paediatricians, or physiotherapists. In the medical history a one sided head position, uneasiness and digestive problems are the most frequently reported problems. These can be the reasons for loud and prolonged crying episodes in the late evening.
In Scandinavian countries and North America chiropractors have been treating these children for decades. It is thought that dysfunctions of the upper cervical spine can result in symptoms like decreased range of motion, uneasiness and stomach aches associated with crying episodes.
Preschoolers and students are also patients in our practice. The main reasons these patients seek chiropractic care is bad posture and related problems in the phases of growth; these problems are often detected during orthopedic examinations at school. Because of the functional nature of these problems, chiropractic treatment is often very beneficial.
The cooperation and communication between a child´s chiropractor and pediatrician is essential. Parents should always notify their child´s pediatrician if their child is to receive chiropractic care.
